He has also checked the boiler`at the City Hall and states that
it measures up to safety requirements. As yet no prices have been obtained for elec-
tric heating at the Jail. Councilman Hansen suggested that prices for gas heating be
obtained as well as electric. Inasmuch as there is already gas heating at the Fire House,
it was believed that gas would be less expensive.
Councilman Cairo will follow -up on securing an easement from Mr. Stahlnecker across
his property to Amaral Circle.
Mr. Oxsen reported that Mr. Reugnitz, of the Alameda County Health Dept., says the Health
Dept. will not object to running a sewer line across the creek. Mr. Ieugnitz also
informed Mr. Oxsen that Mayor Gardena, of Livermore, was interested in Pleasanton
and Livermore acquiring a joint dry dump site, but we have already made an agreement with
Mr. Clyde Potvin.
Mr. Rodenberger and Mr. Fair, of the Southern Pacific Railway Co., and Mr. Vireth, of the
Alameda County Flood Control office, met with Mayor Trimingham, Mr. Oxsen and Attorney
Gale October 29th to survey the drainage ditches along the Southern Pacific track. The
Southern Pacific Railway Co. agreed to clean out the ditches before the rains start.
C. 0 Councilman'Cairo.stated that he had secured permission to cut back the driveway of
Mr. Wm. Hall, on Vineyard Avenue, to take care of the drainage from Allen Riedeman Tract.
Gz2
STREETS AND-,BUILDINGS:
1
1
Councilman Cairo reported that the One -Way signs ordered from the California Auto Assoc.
still have not been received. He suggested that the curbs on the north side of Spring
Street between Main St. and Railroad Ave. be painted red, as some people have failed
to observe the No Parking signs.
Mr. Joe Mederios asked the Council if a notice could be put in the Pleasanton Times
advising the dog- owners of Pleasanton to please keep their dogs off the street. Request
granted. The possibility-of raising dog l.icensefees Jan 1, 1953 and of putting a leash
ordinance into effect was discussed; however nothing definite was decided at this time.
Mayor Trimingham reported that he had contacted Mrs. Elsnab regarding the topping of the
walnut tree in front of her St. John St. home. He stated she was willing to stand half
the expense ($50.00), but felt the City should jay the balance. She had requested per
mission the Council about ten years ago to have this tree removed at her own ex-
pense, and inasmuch as they had refused her at that time she did not feel obligated to
take care of all the expense at this time. The Council agreed to pay the balance and
requested Mr. Oxsen to contact the P. G. E. Co. to top the tree as soon as possible.
CITY HALL:
On motion of Councilman Cairo, seconded by Councilman Hewitson, and approved by all
Councilmen present, payment of $75.00 to the Chamber of Commerce is to made for the
Halloween Parade, as it has been the City policy in the past to help with this affair.
Councilman Hansen stated that all Councilmen and their wives helve been invited to the
Fire Department's Annual Thanksgiving dinner which is to be held Sat., Nov. 8th at
7 P.M. at the Fire House.
The Council agreed with Mr. Oxsen's request that there should be a separate account
for Water Deposits at the bank, as the present systen of refunds requires three sig-
natures on each check. They authorized Mr. Oxsen to transfer the water deposit funds
to a separate account and also to sign the refund checks. If he is absent, the City
Clerk may sign same. Mr. Oxsen requested he be bonded, in the amount of $2,000,00,
same amount as the City Clerk as he handles most of the money. He stated it was a
protection for the City Council, and his request was granted.
Mr. Oxsen stated that he had contacted Mr. Earl Pinard in regard to his obtaining a
Pawn Brokers' License Jan.,1, 1953 and that he was willing to pay the '25.00 fee set
by the Council at the last meeting.
The Council requested Mr. Oxsen to send a bill, in the amount of $250.00, to Garatti
Winery for Sewage disposal service for the year 1952.
Mr. Oxsen presented the Council with the minutes of recent Sub division meeting he
attended.
