20
the front property line and_five feet from the •sides and back property Sine" After
this correction, the minutes were approved.
Mrs. G. Dufton, representing the Women's Improvement Club, Mrs. Ellen Elsnab, representing
the American Legion Auxiliary, Firs. Karen Christianson, representing the Business and
Professional Women's Club, and Mr. Jack Fiorio, representing the American Legion, were
present. Mrs. Dufton appeared as spokesman for these various organizations. it was their
requewt that the Council adopt a zoning Ordinance which would restrict businesses from
the residential area and also limit one dwelling to •a lot: COuncilragbeed,:that; there
should be such an ordinance due to the rapid growth of Pleasanton. Mayor Trimingham
stated that the Council had called a public hearing on October 7, 1952 prior to intro-
ducing an ordinance establishing zones, and at that hearing only persons opposed to
such an ordinance appeared; therefore, the matter had been postponed. He suggested
letters and assistance from each organization if they desire to reopen the matter.
Mr. Roy Jensen and Mr. Bud Krueger appeared before the Council at this time. Mr. Oxsen
presented tentative maps of Mr. Jensen's sub division received from the County Planning
Commission for the Councilti recommendations. It was the opinion of Attorney White
that in the Town's letter to the Planning Commission approving the maps in contemplation
application be made to the Town for annexation, a proviso should be inserted that in the
event of annexation the Town should specify the size of the sewer and water pipe line.
It is Mr. Jensen's intention to secure approval from the Planning Commission and then to
apply for annexation to the Town.
Attorney White reported that he had been unable to contact Attorney Gale in order to
draw up an agreement between the Town and the Pleasanton Sunol water users. He also
stated that it would be necessary for the Council to fix the tax rate before he could
proceed with the advertising and issuance of bonds to finance the reservoir.
Mr. George Andrews appeared before the Council to discuss appraisals received on the
parcel of his land the Town wishes to purchase for a reservoir site. Mr. Andrews stated
that inasmuch as there was such a difference in the two appraisals, in fairness to both
the Town and himself he was willing for the Town to start friendly condemnation pro-
ceedings. Engineer Goodridge stated that it might not be necessary for the Town to acquire
that parcel of land, as it is possible that the Town property near the present reservoirs
is sufficient in height. He will determine the elevations of both the Town property and
Mr. Andrews. While Mr. Andrews was present, he also stated that his driveway was still
impassible, and that he would like to have the situation remedied as soon as possible.
George Sobiela will check the gas line before grading again to take care of the matter.
RESOLUTION 2286, approving Progress Payment #4, in the amount of ;;1,000.00, to Sierra
Pipe Line Construction Co., was adopted,00n motion of Councilman Cairo, seconded by
Councilman Hewitson, and approved by all Councilmen present.
Mr. Jack Fiorio requested permission from the Council to tar or black top the.area
between the property line and the street in front of his apartments on Rose Avenue, which
would eliminate the weeds. Request granted.
CLAIMS NO. 372 to 425 were presented to the Finance Committee.
Claim No.
372 Ellen Elsnab
373 Paul Loretz
374 Edith Trimingham
375 Moritz Voerckel
376 Margaret L.
