Centennial Commission Invitation to participate in Parade
In reply to the League of California Cities communication on forthcoming legislative bille,
it was agreed by the Council to write to the members of the Assembly Committee on Revenue
and Taxation opposing Assembly Bill 817 which is the new county, city, and state sales
tax proposal.
Mr. Oxsen was asked to write to the Office of the City Manager of Santa Roaa stating that
the Town was not interested in obtaining a list of used car sales which would assist in
collecting City Sales Tax; however, the Town is interested in obtLining a list of all
sales reported to the State.
Mr. Oxsen was asked to fill out the entry blank for the Fair Parade and forward it to the
Alar::eda County Centennial Commission.
Mr. Roy Jensen and Mr. Bud Krueger appeared before the Council at this time. Mayor Trim
ingham reported on the meeting that several of the Councilmen had had with Mr. Thomas and
Mr. Gardella, of the County Planning Commission, regarding Mr. Jensen's sub- division plans.
The Planning Commission had requested that Mr. Jensen change his lay -out of streets in
order to have a street running directly to the proposed school; they also felt that some of
the homes were too close to the railroad; streets 34 feet from curb to curb within the
tract would be satisfactory to the County. Mr. Jensen stated that he did not intend to
change his maps to comply with the Planning Commission's requirements and that he wished
to apply to the Town for annexation of the 15.8 acres recently purchased. After much
discussion, the Council agreed to streets within the tract being 36 feet from curb to curb,
5 foot sidewalks, which would leave 1' feet between the sidewalks and property line for
the installation of gas lines. The remainder of the map met with the Council's approval;
therefore, Mr. Jensen will furnish Attorney White with a description of the property in
order to proceed with the annexation.
BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the Town of Pleasanton hereby finds and determines
that the public interests, convenience and necessity require the acquisition in fee simple
by said Town of Pleasanton of a site for the construction thereon and therein of a water
reservoir, together with all structures, facilities and appurtenances reasonably necessary
and appropriate therefor, for the purposes of and to be used for and useful for the supply-
ing of water to the inhabitants of the Town of Pleasanton, and that the lot, piece or
parcel of land hereinafter described, and the whole thereof is necessary therefor, said
land lying and being in the Town of Pleasanton, County of Alameda, State of California,
particularly described as follows:
BEGINNING at the most eastern corner of Plot 17 on the southwestern line of Kottinger
Avenue, as said Plot 17 and said Avenue are shown and so delineated on that certain map
entitled "Map of the Pleasanton Homesteads," filed in the office of the County Recorder of
Alameda County, California, March 7th, 1885, and of record in Bood 6 of Maps at page 30,
Alameda County Records, and running thence along said southwestern line of Kottinger Avenue
North 61 30' west 382.80 feet; thence leaving Kottinger Avenue South 28 30' west 462.00
feet to the true point of beginning; thence North 61 30' west 175.00 feet; thence .North
