Z26
Mayor Trimingham presiding. ROLL CALL showed present: Councilmen Abrott, Cairo,
Hansen and Hewitson.
Attorney White stated that he had filed opinions regarding the transfer of Komandorski
Village to the Pleasanton Housing Authority with the Clerk. It was Attorney White's
opinion that any profits from a housing project could not be turned over to the Town
as a housing project cannot legally be operated on a profit basis.
The Council granted Attorney White permission for a title search on the Andrews'
property in order to proceed with the condemnation suit.
Engineer Goodridge reported that he is proceeding with the plans for the tank; however,
he would need to test the foundation before he could complete same. Attorney White
stated that we should secure written permission from Mr. Andrews to go on his property
before testing the site. In the event the site is tested by July lst, Engineer Good
ridge will be able to complete the plans by the last week in July, at which time he
would be willing to turn over all records to a new city engineer in order that the
Town might enter the State Employees' Retirement System. Engineer Goodridge stated
that the Council should make arrangements with Mr. Duke Bonde for any overflow water
there might be. Attorney White advised that an easement would be needed in this case.
At this time Engineer Goodridge introduced Mr. Pestana who he recommends for the
position of City Engineer.
The Clerk read a communication from the County Surveyor's office enclosing duplicate
plans of the proposed extension of First Street. Engineer Goodridge will review the
plans and give his recommendations before the next meeting.
A group supporting fluoridation appeared before the Council at this time. After a brief discussion, it was learned that all present were urging fluori-
dation. Councilman Abrott suggested holding another public meeting at which time any
opposition might be heard, June 29th, at 8:00 P.M. was set as the date for this meeting.
Dr. Hector requested the Council to seek more information as to the qualifications
and background of any opponents there might be at that meeting.
COMMUNICATIONS:
5 -29 -53
6 -10 -53
6 -9 -53
6 -12 -53
6 -12 -53
6 -12 -53
ACTION ON COMMUNICATIONS:
Due to the fact Mr. Oxsen is on his vacation for a week, Councilman Abrott was asked
to contact Mr. Ramseier in an effort to learn the reason for the poor laboratory results
of the sample of sewage effluent.
Mayor Trimingham suggested that the ex- Mayors ride in the official car in the Cen-
tennial Parade; however, the other Councilmen felt that they should make an effort to
do so themselves as most other communities would have their present Council riding.
COMMITTEE RPORTS:
PUBLIC UTILITIES:
State Dept. of Public Works
Bureau of the Census
Alameda Co. Mr. Boggs says he is a good engineer, although he has not had too much
experience. With Mr. Goodridge!s guidance, however, he should made a good man.
Mr. Oxsen also spoke with Mr. Espy regarding Mr. Sobiela. Mr. Sobiela will have to
retire from the City of San Francisco position when he is 70. Mr. Espy was not in
favor of paying the Town directly for Mr. Sabiela's services. If Mr. Sobiela wishes
to receive additional retirement benefits by combinitg the two check, it will be necessary
for him to turn over the San Francisco checks to the Town and the Town re- imburse him.
It was also Mr. Espy's opinion that the City of San Francisco would not allow the Town
to take over the Township Water District well and pump to the sump for use by the Town
