He discussed the
plan of eliminating a gutter and surfacing the street to the curb. He advised that a
concrete curbing had lately been placed along the property of F.J. Hall and A. D.
Georgis to complete the section installed by Peter C.-Madsen. He reported that at
the present time no curbing had been installed and that there was some understanding
among the property owners that the city street department do- certain surfacing to
improve conditions on that street. Councilman Trimingham further reported that it
was his understanding that there had been some.dismussion among the property owners
relative to the curb not being demanded. The plan of eliminating the curb was not generally approved.
While the discussion was in progress, Councilman Madsen reported at the meeting and
he answered the matter in regards, to the curb and gutter pointing out that sometime
a-go in a discussion of street work with Mr. Mancini in the city hall that Mr. Mancini
had made certain recommendations with regards such surfacing and which the city street
department could apply. Mayor Orloff explained.the matter as he understood it and to
the effect that such a surfa.cing.would probably break and that the street department
would have some difficulty in maintaining it. Councilman Madsen again discussed
the recommendations•of Mr. Mancini on the surfacing and expressed himself to the
effect that if any gutter was required that it should be uniform and that he had spoken
to Messrs. Georgis and Hall relative to _potting same in. The Council then discussed
the surfacing further, 'it being rather favored that the solid street type of work
be put in and thus any criticism which might arise would be avoided, - likewise a gutter
was agreed upon.
W,
