Mr. Nilson said that the company had been willing to allow same on account of the good exper-
ience of previous years. Reference was again made to the agreements by the Clerk after which
Resolution No. 1690 In Re. the matter of transmitting fire alarm signals was adopted on motion
of Councilman Madsen, seconded by Councilman Trimingham and with all the Councilmen in favor
of same, and Resolution No. 1691 In Rei the matter of operating the police alarm horn signal
was adopted on motion of Councilman Madsen, seconded by Councilman Trim'ingham and with all the
councilmen in favor of same. The Clerk was ordered to forward the agreements to the Telephone
Company for its signature. Mr. Nilson then spoke with regards the Lafrenz - Stovall matter,
setting forth that a State Contractors license, State Plumbing License and a town license, was
required. He also reviewed the town ordinance in the matter which had been of some years stand-
ing and also a State statute of many years ago, both of which affected the situation. He
discussed with the Council the public health side of the .matter and the most practical way of
determining the qualifications of a plumber. It was generally agreed that the Department of
Health, through the health officer, would enter into the matter and that in the future care
should be exercised as regards same. Mr. Nilson next took up an amendment to the Milk Ord-
inance. He reported that at the present time the basis of collection was one - fourth of one
cent per gallon with a minimum of $2.00 was being charged. He mentioned in the case of the
Sanitary Dairy that they were losing money on the fee paid to,the town, but on the inspection
of their milk they had a distinct advantage in that this service, which amounted to $5.00 to
$10.00 was being procured for a minimum of °$2.00._ Mr. Nilson advised what other communities
were charging and stated that in the case of Livermore, their fee was $20.00 on pasteurizing
plants and that on the stores selling milk it was as low as 50¢ per month. He suggested that
a better schedule for Pleasanton would be 610.00 on pasteurizing` plart,s - regardless of the
3
amount of milk being handled, 50¢ for stores handling milk only and il'1.00 on places of busi-
ness handling milk and ice cream. He closed the discussion' by asking for suggestions from
the Council as to what it felt should be done. Mayor Orloff replied for the Council and
thought it best to allow the matter to remain as is for a little longer.
Councilman Brenner of the Laws and Judiciary Committee reported that the Stop signs on
First Street had been installed.
Councilman Trimingham of the'Street'and Building Committee brought up the'matter of the
Annual Cleanup week and suggested the dates of Ma y20- 27th, inclusive. Following a discussion
it was decided that that period be set asided for the work and that due notice should be
given through the press of the work to take place. Also the assistance given in former years
should be again made available.
