Councilman Brenner then asked Mr..hilson to dis-
cuss his recommendations regarding the building ordinance. Attorney Nilson suggested that the
Council adopt the uniform building code and in that way avoid any difficulty that might arise
in the future regarding the building ordinance not being in conformity. He stated that some
changes would have to be made, that the matter of _fire•limits must be established in order to
outline fire zones. Also that changes in the old ordinance would probably have to be effected
through amendments or•otherwise a new series of ordinances would be needed. He went on to
explain that the new code of 1940 would become the building code cf the Town of Pleasanton
through ordinances and that same would take care of any situations now arising. It was ordered
that Attorney Nilson should proceed with the building ordiance matter and that the Clerk should
arrange to procure a number of building code forms for the use of the municipality.
Councilman Brenner brought up the matter of the•closing ordinance and stated that he would
like to have the local ordinance conform with the state closing of two o'clock in the morning.
He further stated that at the present time the ordinance in affect regarding certain places of
business required that same close earlier. It was ordered that the ordinance in affect be
amended so that these places of business would all *close at' 2 o'clock.
Councilman Trimingham of the Street and Building Committee brought up the matter of dis-
posing of two walnut trees from.in front of the uilianelli property on St. Mary's Street. He
called upon Superintendent of Streets Rodrigues for a report on same and Mr. Rodrigues responded
to the effect that one tree was in especially bad shape and the other would be affected by heavy
winds and serious damage might result.. Mr. Rodrigues stated that-Mr. Guilianelli was willing
to replace these trees with ornamental trees of good size if permitted to remove them. The
Mayor recounted that in times past the removal of trees has stirred up considerable trouble and
he felt that before permission was given to: .-Mr. Guilianelli to remove the trees that the Council
should investigate their .condition and at the next meeting decided upon the action to be followed..
Councilman Trimingham also brought up the matter of cleaning the streets, stating that it had
been the practice of the street department to have the streets in shape each week -end so as to
make an 'attractive' appearance. Fie reported that it had been the practice of numerous property
,owners to clean up their premises over the week -end and deposit leaves etc. in the streets, thus
creating an unsightly appearance. There was very,•much concern over this practice and it was
ordered that the Clerk should give due publicity to what was being carried on and to discourage
the practice now in effect.
I
