From: Sannina AJu
To: Janice Stern:fens nip
Subject: East Pleasanton Specific Plan Options
Date: Monday,June 10,2013 1:15:28 PM
Dear Ms. Stern:
We are residents of Ironwood Community of Pleasanton, and we are writing to
express our concerns regarding the 4 options for the East Pleasanton planning for
high density housing. We moved to Pleasanton area because of the good schools
and a community with 76% of housing units are single family and owner occupied.
Now all the new options will
create a community that is the opposite the rest of Pleasanton in terms of owners vs. renters
and density of housing. I believe this will negatively impact our neighborhoods and not be
good for the overall health of our schools, traffic and city.
Here are a few key points from residents of our community
(I) Ironwood community have been doing its fair share to support the city of pleasanton by
providing supports for senior housing and active adults (over 55 years old) community.
(2) The Higher Density housing should be balanced across the city to meet needs instead of
being placed in any one are like the east side to protect quality of life and insure we create
neighborhoods that are balanced. So we are totally against putting more than 1.000 units in
the East Pleasanton area
(3) The extremely high density housing should be placed further away from the the existing
community, such as Iron Wood community, where there are a lot of senior citizens living in
this area, and they are very sensitive to noise and traffic. This will also minimize the negative
impact of the house value of existing community
So we will need 1 new alternative with <=1,000 units (similar to option 1, but
need significant modification), including the following features
(a) with at least 50% should be at the lower density, and 25% at the high densities.
(b) Move High density to the edge of Stanley (instead of 1 at Busch, another at Stanley,
as in Option 1), near the higher capability roadways to minimize the negative impacts
on neighborhood streets; Can we even consider 1 high density close to the office area
next to 1580?
(c) Minimize Busch as a collector for traffic
(d) move school closer to the high density housing
(e) can we utilize the east side of Stanley instead of west side of Stanley?
Your kind considerations would be much appreciated. Please keep in mind the existing
residents of Ironwood community and the senior citizens living close by and the safety
of the kids in mind during the planning!!
