Twin Valleyutual Aid Plan Forward
FORWARD
This document contains the procedures for implementing the Twin Valley Mutual Aid Agreement.
The original agreement is on file with the Fire Chief of the Livermore/Pleasanton Fire Department.
These procedures cover the basic operational concepts of Mutual Aid within the Twin Valley as well
as Mutual Aid assistance to and from the other jurisdictions within Alameda County. The Twin Valley
Agencies comprise the East Zone of Alameda County;the remainder of the County is divided into the
North and South Zones. Lab Fire is the Coordinating department for mutual aid in the Twin Valley,
as well as Alameda County as a whole.
The LLNL Fire Dispatcher, backed up by the Alameda County Fire Dispatcher, is responsible for
dispatching the various fire units and ascertaining that all jurisdictions have some fire protection as
determined through pre-determined response assignments. In this regard, the dispatcher has the
authority to make adjustments in response and designate cover-in's as necessary.
While these procedures are the general rule, they should not be construed to be so inflexible as to inhibit
initiative on the part of Twin Valley Fire Officers. However, officers and dispatchers must remember
that effective communications between all those involved is the key to successful operation of this
plan.
It should also be remembered that prior to calling for greater alarm assistance,it is incumbent on the
initiating jurisdiction to have committed its own resources.
•
Forward September 1, 1999 Pg. i
