r
projects. You have an opportunity with the East Pleasanton Specific Plan to plan this area for
® the next forty years.
Pleasanton is a wonderful city. I first personally visited in 1987 and have since returned
many times. With this in mind, your City is what it is today because of the leadership tradition
in the 1970's and 1980's. They were outstanding planners and clearly had a vision. Today,
you have the same opportunity to continue this tradition long into the future. The East
Pleasanton Specific Plan is the path forward. While our property at 50 acres is only a small
part of the 1100-acre Specific Plan, its direct access to Busch, Boulder, and Valley and in
place utility connections can be the gateway.
I can commit to Kiewit's continuing cooperation to change the use of our property in a
fashion that will facilitate its development in order to benefit Pleasanton. However, it would not
be reasonable to require Kiewit to further delay well into the future while the fate of planning
efforts for East Pleasanton hang in the balance. I again urge you to continue with the pending
planning and environmental review process. In the event you choose not to do so, however,
we trust that the City will permit Kiewit to appropriately process an application for development
of its property separate from any Specific Plan, like so many other properties in the City that
have been successfully planned and developed over these same past 12 years.
Thank you for considering my comments as you make your decision on moving the
City forward.
Sincerely,
® KIE IT INFRASTRUTURE CO.
Cui (QM
Paul E.
