'I' 111 / J "r ENVIRONMENTAL
WATER RESOURCES
CONSTRUCTION SERVICES
Expect Excellence
Project No.
4284.105.501
October 8,2015
Mr.Tim Quinn
Greenbriar Homes Communities
43160 Osgood Road
Fremont, CA 94530
Subject: Lund Ranch II
Pleasanton, California
EXPLORATION OF GRADED SLOPES
Dear Mr. Quinn:
As requested, an ENGEO geologist visited the site on September 4, 2015, to explore the slopes
north of the existing barns and ranch complex. We supervised the excavation of four test pits at
the locations shown on the exhibit prepared by Rugerri-Jensen Azar (RJA). The test pit
excavations encountered a generally thin layer of disturbed soils interpreted to be fill.
CONCLUSIONS
The areas depicted on the RJA exhibit as "manmade slopes" appear to consist of old cuts or
shallow fills that were created in association with construction of the ranch complex, barns and
associated roadways. In particular, there is a clear slope break in the area north of the two barns
that appears to be man-made. Test pits on the south-facing slope depicted on the RJA exhibit
encountered a thin layer of fill overlying bedrock. Based on the test pits and slope morphology, it
therefore appears that areas identified on the RJA exhibit are not natural slopes, and that the
slope inclination and shape have been created by past grading associated with ranch construction
and operations.
If you have any questions or comments regarding this letter, please call and we will be glad to
discuss them with you.
:: ncoorated ly, SS\ODWL 0£0 0
c` -Z•-JQ STUfOycs Ai
o.
