It was suggested that in order to finalize the agreement between V.C.S.D. and the
City, and Schulte Blackwell and the City that the City Council and the V.C.S.D.
Board meet in order to make the necessary changes that would make the agreement
acceptable to both parties.
After considerable discussion it was decided that the staff would attempt to arrange
a meeting with V.C.S.D, and the City Council prior' to Friday, September 17, 1965.
Livermore Sewage Treatment and Disposal Standards
Mr. Fales related the background of this request to have the Pleasanton City Council
support the Livermore disposal standards. He stated that the Water Pollution Control
Board had approved the standards that were proposed by the City of Livermore, and
that V.C.S.D. had objected on the grounds that they were too low and therefore unssfe.
Upon the suggestion of Councilman Cairo the matter was put over for two weeks.
Purchase of Pickup Truck; Automatic Transmission
Mr. Fales summarized the report from the Fire Chief which set forth the reasoning
behind the request for pickup trucks with automatic transmissions. In summary this
report consisted of statistics and endorsements regarding the advantages of automatic
transmissions as opposed to standard transmissions.
Councilman Cairo strongly of -posed the purchase of vehicles with automatic transmissions
based primarily upon his own experience with such vehicles.
After considerable discussion, it was moved by Councilman Cairo that the City purchase
one pickup truck without an automatic transmission. The motion did not receive a
socond.
It was then moved by Councilman Harding and seconded by Councilman McWilliams that the
City Staff be authorized to purchase a pickup truck with an automatic transmission.
The roll call vote was as follows:
AYES: Councilmen Harding, McWilliams, and Mayor Long
NOES: Councilman Cairo
ABSENT: Councilman Bubics
1965 Alameda County Fair
Mr. Fales summarized the report of the Alameda County Fair pointing out the significant
areas of cost and importance. He indicated that the report had been forwarded to the
Fair Lissom Committee and that it was now under consideration and that some of the
recommendations were currently being implemented.
Upon the suggestion of Councilman McWilliams the staff was instructed to schedule a
study session on the above subject in order to discuss the details of the report more
fully.
Matters for the Information of the Council
Mr. Fales reported that progress payment No. 3 for Assessment District No. 64 -3 in the
amount of $607.50 was now due and payable. He went on to say that the payment had
been checked by the Engineer at work as well as the City Engineer and that the payment
was found to be in order.
It was moved by Councilman Harding and seconded by Councilman McWilliams that
Resolution No. 65 -157 approving progress payment No. 3 for Assessment District No. 64 -3
in the amount of $607.50 be approved.
The roll call vote was as follows:
AYES: Councilmen Cairo, Harding, McWilliams, and Mayor Long
NOES.
