After considerable discussion it was decided co hold a study session regarding the
proposed Sewage Treatment and Disposal Agrainant after it had been discussed by the
VCSD Board of Directors.
Fairlands Interim Sanitary Sewer Agreement
Mr. Fales reviewed the proposed agreement between the City of Pleasanton and the
First Pleasanton Investors regarding the property designated in "Fairlands." Mr.
George Oakes, reprsenting the First Pleasanton investors had several questions re-
garding the sewer connection fees. Mr. Fales suggested that he and Mr. Oakes discuss
this sometime during the week and represent the agreement to the City Council on
April 12th.
Mr. Oakes expressed concern over the fact of the possible 1000 foot extension to the
runway of the proposed Livermore Airport. He stated this would be a detriment to
his property and the run way extension would severely decrease the size of the
municipal golf course planned in that area.
It was moved by Councilman McWilliams and seconded by Councilman Bubics that the City
Staff be authorized to write to the Livermore City Council, Chamber of Commerce,
Alameda County Board of Supervisors and the Golf Course Committee stating that the
City of Pleasanton is opposed to the 1000 foot run way extension at the Livermore
Airport.
The roll call vote was as follows:
AYES: Councilmen Bubics, Cairo, Harding, McWilliams and Mayor Long
NOES: None
ABSENT: None
Matters for the Information of the Council were not presented at this meeting.
COMMUNICATIONS
Mr. Fales read a letter from Mr. Mrs. Alfred Holzer, 4050 Walnut Drive, dated April
5, 1965, urging the City Council to maintain both the Swim -to -live and the recreation-
al swimming programs in this community. Mr. Fales stated that he would not be able
to make a recommendation on this matter until the Recreation Budget was completed,
and stated that a report regarding the Recreation Budget for 1965 -66 would be sub-
mitted to the City Council on April 12.
Mr. Fales read a communication from Messrs. John E and Manning E Stanley, dated
April 3, 1965, requesting the City Council clarify the descision involving the re-
alignment of Bernal Ave. The letter stated that losses have been experienced because
of the delay, as they have not attempted to secure another tenant for their property.
Mr. Fales stated that he would inform them by letter that they can secure a tenant
and the City is not liable for any loss suffered by them.
Mr. Fales read a letter from Mr. J. C. Womack, State Highway Engineer regarding a
study for planning a Continuing Highway Program after 1972. Mr. Fales explained that
the Highway Trust Fund from which the Interstate and other Federal Aid highway
programs are financed will go out of existence upon Completion of the Interstate
Highway System program in 1972. In his letter, Mr. Womack stated that studies,
for planning a continuing highway program for after 1972 and until 1985 are being
held and any problem of a general nature which the City of Pleasanton may care to
bring to the attention of the committee working on this program, should be submitted
to him in writing not later than May 3, 1965.
Mr. Fales read a letter from Mayor Edwin W.
