Pleasanton additionally does not need to finance part of the cost with an arrangement to be paid back
over time. This is not a wise financial arrangement as it advantages Costco at the expense of other
community needs.
City funds and revenue streams can be used for better purposes such as Education and the Arts,
Conservation of Open Space, Containment of Traffic Congestion, and Balancing Commercial and
Residential Growth with Space Preservation -so Pleasanton retains its native ambiance and does not
evolve into the next Dublin where every possible space is filled with more concrete and steel.
While the moto of Pleasanton is "City of Planned Progress" - progress does not inherently mean more
and more development.
May I suggest therefore the updated moto of"City of Planned Progress and Preservation". This moto
emphasizes the vital balance between development and conservation. Ask city leaders of
any content and prosperous community and they will tell you preservation and growth are key to
a well run community.
Jed Sussman, Ph.D.
Click here to report this email as spam.
2
