ATTACHMENT 2: PUBLIC COMMENTS
This is not well defined, in my opinion. Sometimes it is okay to leave these things vague and resolve
them later. My belief was that the section from Angela to Bernal was part of the corridor—actually, all
the way to the city limits near Castlewood.
MP-I.18 "Amend PMC Section 18.56 to allow surface parking on the Transportation Corridor."What
does this mean?
What LD-P.67 doesn't make clear is the section between Angela and Bernal. Fig. 5-1 implies that the
Transportation Corridor ends at Angela at the south, and Stanley at the north. One interpretation could
be that this portion of the corridor ending at Bernal Avenue is intended exclusively for parking.
My request is to leave open the possibility for extending the Transportation Corridor from Angela to
Bernal for a bicycle and pedestrian trail along with parking—not exclusively parking.
Justification:
This is an opportunity to fix the gaps between bike paths. As is indicated in Figure 4-3,the pedestrian
connection is intended along the Transportation Corridor south, past Abbie,as well as along the new
street within the Town Square District. Additionally, Peters Avenue will get a cycle track. Extending the
network from this cycle track with wayfinding into the Town Square, through the proposed ped/bike
gateway, and then over to the Transportation Corridor will connect these two important corridors.
Figur.4-3:TOWN SQUARE DISTRICT CONCEPT DIAGRAM
®Proposed Street Roadway Conslrtxbon Phase
Ea Proposed Street Roadway Construction Phase 2
r_Proposed Pedestrian Connectionistr
ST4
Transportation Candor
(_-1 Downtown Mined use /ParkiCsreenway /1//
Library Guiding /▪ Motel / . /1/``
Retail
,a}, a n fee
••• Pedestrian Connector. / 2 /1t
/J
•
.EAYIIcoun OLDAM;-111 11110
ACE
(IcaNde
ND. 4*4144tt • AMINO. /
Fc
Motet'
PHASE_ _t
m •
•The site would be developed phases,with Z
Phase 1 including the area east d the thick
Connect the Transportation Corridor trail to the Peters Avenue cycle track through the Town Square
District.
I have advocated for using the ACTC from Bernal Avenue south to Castlewood Drive as a bike and
walking trail as a safe alternative to Sunol Boulevard and the 1-680 interchange. According to the Strava
Metro heatmap, many cyclists do this already.
4
