The concrete temperature.

Wail Thickness: The minimum wall thickness for the various sizes of
pipe as determined by probes through the fresh concrete shall conform to
the provisions of Section 63 of the Standard Specifications.

Equipment: The pipe shall be constructed with equipment specially
designed for constructing cast-in-place monolithic concrete pipe and
capable of placing the concrete in one operation around the full
circumference of the pipe by means of a traveling form. When metal
forms are used they shall be of sufficient strength to withstand
vibrating or tamping the concrete and to permit workmen to walk on the
forms without causing springing or bulging at any point. The equipment
shall be acceptable to the Engineer and the Contractor may be required
to furnish evidence of successful operation on other work of the
equipment he proposes to use.

Excavation: Excavation shall conform to the provisions of Section 12 of
these specifications with the following modification:

a. The bottom of the trench shall be ~haped to the external diameter
of the pipe to be constructed.

Construction: All water which may have entered the trench shall be
removed before constructing the pipe. All surfaces against which
concrete is to be place shall be free of standing water, mud or debris.
Surfaces against which concrete is to be placed shall be thoroughly
moistened with water if necessary so that moisture will not be drawn
from the freshly placed concrete.

Forms shall be lapped so that the lap ridges in the interior of the pipe
shall face downstream in the direction of flow. The concrete shall be
vibrated, rammed, tamped or worked with suitable appliances until the
concrete has been consolidated to the maximum practicable density, free
of rock pockets and closed snugly against all surfaces of forms. The
concrete shall completely fill the forms.

When placing operations cease for any reason the end of the pipe shall
be left rough with a slope of approximately 45 degrees. The ends of the
pipe shall be securely covered with heavy canvas or other acceptable
material to prevent loss of moisture from the fresh concrete.

CDS.1.14 15-2
