From: Andrew Hughes
To: Natalie Amos
Cc: Neleen Blaman: Minal Doshi; Nell Doshf; Dr. Sandy Bioman
Subject: Re: P21-0132, P21-0133, PUD -142, Ramprasad Srirama, 3707 Trenery Drive
Date: Monday, November 29, 20212:19:20 PM
Dear Natalie,
As indicated on the November 24 postcard notification from your office, I am writing to
provide my comments in opposition to the construction of a two-story home on Parcel 1/A as
set forth in the above -referenced applications. I am also concerned about the setbacks for each
proposed dwelling given the shape of the lot prior to subdivision. It would appear that, by
necessity, the proposed dwellings will need to be set back considerably from the street and
hence, close to the rear property line abutting the existing homes on Cameron Circle. This is a
significant concern.
As Dr. Bigman points out, the Cameron Place development was limited by the City to single
story residences for presumably a couple of reasons — density and aesthetics. For the same
reasons the City imposed these restrictions on the Cameron Place developer, these restrictions
should be applied here as well. While I certainly appreciate that the CC&Rs that govern the
Cameron Place development are not applicable to the subject lot, the rationale behind the
limitations imposed on Cameron Place by the City, especially given the proximity of this lot to
the Cameron Place development, should remain largely applicable here as well.
I write this note not only as an attorney with an understanding of land use issues, but also as
the President of the Cameron Place HOA.
Finally, I can speak from personal experience regarding the existence of a two-story dwelling
in close proximity to my rear property line. The lot which is directly behind my home
contains a pre-existing two-story dwelling. The existence of a two-story dwelling overlooking
my backyard as well as the back of the house is detrimental to privacy both in the house and
while enjoying my outdoor space. For that reason, I would ask that the Planning Commission
look very hard at whether a two-story residence is appropriate in this neighborhood, given its
history, and even more critical, the closer the proposed two-story residence is to the rear
property line, the more it will impinge on the privacy and use of the neighboring homes. For
these reasons, it would appear appropriate to deny the applications as presented.
Best regards,
Andrew Hughes
Cameron Circle, Pleasanton
ITEM NO. 6, PUD -144, PUBLIC COMMENTS PAGE 6
