From: MAY MUKHERJEE
To: Mayor and City Council; Michele Crose
Cc: Muirvw0odPark4lllC@omail.com
Subject: Please reconsider decision to make a cricket field at Muirwood Park.
Date: Sunday, February 6, 2022 6:30:01 PM
Good Evening Council members and City officials,
I am a resident of Pleasanton for several years now and live in the Muirwood Park area.
I Just came to know through a flier that there is a plan to convert part of the Park into a Cricket Ground. I
am a little disappointed that such an important decision which would affect so many Pleasanton
Residents was taken through consent of just a few who live within 500 ft of the Park.
Let me begin by sharing with you that I was born and spend the early years of my life in India . I grew up
with Cricket in my heart and have a deep love for the game. I still keep up with the cricket scores as much
as I can.
Having said that I must say that I very much oppose this plan and feel that not all factors were considered
before making this decision.
This park is shared by many and I myself visit that area for walks multiple times a week, with and without
my dog. I have seen how busy that park is and how it is shared by many in various activities including
different kinds of sports or just lounging on the beautiful grass and staring at the blue sky. I have seen
kids playing all over the park almost daily, When my kids were younger, my wife and me used to take
them to park regularly .
Having played cricket as a kid and having watched the game for many years I can confidently tell you
that without appropriate protection to stop the cricket ball from flying around , all visitors to the park would
be at risk from getting seriously injured.
No matter how we try to slice and dice this the cricket pitch and the surrounding area needed for fielding
would essentially mean that most other activities that we see now would have to be cancelled or
displaced.
I cannot imagine our elderly neighbors and younger kids strolling in that location with the cricket ball flying
around.
I love cricket and I would like to see the love of cricket grow here. But I am sure there are other suitable
locations that can be considered instead of ruining the Muirwood Park area for most of us.
I respectfully beg to differ with this decision. Since it affects all of us, I am requesting , that all of you who
are in a position to makp a decision on this please reflect and reconsider your decision.
Pleasanton is my hometown and the interest to make Pleasanton the best place in the world to live in will
always be in my heart.
Concerned Resident
Click heN to report this email as spam.
