Your decisions so far speak loudly (and most importantly, do
not reflect the sentiment of the community members)
Every city in CA is hiring officers and the ability to attract and retain them is of utmost importance. Several
cities are even offering bonuses of up to $25k to lure them away. The fact that you are not willing to bring
them up to the median salary range is just not savvy. Failure to ratify a contract will cause experienced
officers to leave or only help them attract the bottom of the barrel officers, not the ones you want patrolling
your town. Median salaries amongst the comparable cities is industry standard, how can you not understand
that?
--ANhen you call the police, you want someone who is knowledgeable, professional, and knows how to do their
Job. The Department is already short staffed enough and your actions are of further detriment to that
end. Show your support and reach an agreement, your citizens are asking for it.
1
