I fear that this ordinance will significantly impact our low income gardeners that lack the resources to transition to ALL
battery leaf blowers. In addition, leaf blowers are heavily used in the tree service industry, so those companies
affected by this ban are greater than one might expect.
Since the state has already established a ban on gas powered leaf blower sales effective 2024, I'm wondering why the
City feels it needs to make themselves the bad guy and enact a strict use ban in addition. I suspect that the silent
majority is against this ordinance.
It is my request that you delay this ordinance and allow the state regulation to take effect and by doing so you will allow
gas powered leaf blowers to slowly fade away from use. If you must enact an ordinance, then I request that you word it
to allow only those gas powered leaf blowers that currently meet or exceed EPA and CARB regulations. That would
eliminate those cheap, big box store blowers that are the most annoying.
Regards,
Matt Maciel
z
