Standard Deterioration Curve

Below are the treatments for the City’s maintenance strategies:

Seal Crack Treatment9- Preventative Maintenance Treatment
Surface Cracks are inevitable distresses and are one of the first signs of distress at the pavement
surface. If neglected over time, this distress can grow into a heavy crack and possibly a pothole if left
untreated. Crack Sealing is a cost-effective treatment for cracks greater than 1/8”. This treatment
slows the deterioration and can extend pavement life by three to five years. This treatment is triggered
every five years for Arterials and every four years for Collectors and Residential streets.

9 https://roadresource.org/treatment_resources/crack_seal
Page 187 of 228
