19
Service Centers Nationwide

accumulated fecal matter. The surface from which this matter was removed will then be sprayed
by hand using an EPA registered Sterilizing agent that also contains a true odor neutralizer.

Habitat Modification:
For control of all Pest Bird Species, we must perform habitat modification. There are several methods
that can be used and all of them combine to the best solution available. Some of the methods we
use are spikes, shock track system, netting, and gels. Spiking involves the setting of stainless-steel
pigeon spikes being installed to prevent birds from continuing to roost. If birds, such as pigeons,
cannot land to roost they will go elsewhere. Netting is a very effective method for all pest bird
species. As a general description, stainless steel cable is installed using stainless steel clips or
eyebolts as our end anchors and intermediate anchors. The netting is then attached permanently
to the cable using stainless steel hog rings. Once the netting is installed the birds cannot access the
areas to roost, nest or gather food and water. The shock track system is very effective, but a costly
solution. The birds will receive a very mild shock when they try and land on the area. The shock will
not harm the birds, but it makes for an unpleasant experience. This system is completely safe for
the building. For a gel product we use optical gel, we have developed a great working relationship
with this company and have wonderful technical backup for any bird problem.

Trapping:
The key to effective trapping is pre-baiting; leaving the trap doors open so birds can freely walk in
and out, consuming water and feed and establishing an overall comfort with the trap. This pre-
baiting process should be for a minimum of 2 weeks. At the start of week 3, the one-way trap doors
are dropped so that when birds enter as they are accustomed to, they now find there is no way out.
Once the birds are trapped, we will euthanize them and dispose of the carcasses.

Chemical Methods of Control:
OvoControl P is a once-a-day application for the contraception of pigeons. This ready-to-use birth-
control-bait is designed specifically for feral pigeons and prevents egg fertilization. It is ideal for
wide area sites where population reduction is desired. The product is administered to the birds in
the form of pigeon friendly pellets as a once-a-day snack. The tool is non-lethal and supported by
all leading animal welfare organizations including HSUS and PETA as well as conservation groups
such as Audubon and the Peregrine Fund.

OvoControl P acts to slowly reduce the number of birds and enhance other tools in our pest bird
control arsenal (i.e., trapping and habitat modification). Under ideal conditions, with all pigeons in
the area consuming the appropriate dose during the breeding season the expected outcome is no
new pigeons. However, the average reduction in pigeon population is 3% per month.

DocuSign Envelope ID: 16D1C412-7260-4260-8A87-C870C0BEE374
