City of Pleasanton—Merritt Property Project
15183 Consistency Checklist Consistency Checklist

201
Livermore Municipal Airport.33 The project site is not located in an area that
would experience significantly different prevailing winds, nor is it located in a
location where occasional wind events would pose a significant additional
risk related to wildfire spread.
The City and project site are occasionally subject to reduced air quality as a
result of wildfire in the surrounding areas. However, the project site is not
located in an area where such impacts are situationally increased, nor would
the introduction of the project increase the potential for such occurrences.
Furthermore, in the event of on-site fire, the project site would not contain
any features that would produce quantities or qualities of air pollutants that
are substantially beyond what an average residential development would
be expected to produce and therefore, would not increase potential project
impacts.
Construction of the proposed project would use equipment with combustion
engines and other activities which are known to create fires. However,
applicable regulations, including the California Public Resources Code,
would require that construction equipment use spark arrestors and
appropriate fire suppression equipment be maintained on-site.
Fire spread and structure loss is more likely to occur in low- to intermediate-
density development located among flammable vegetation.34 While the
proposed project is considered to be of low- to intermediate-density, it would
not be located within and among open space containing significant fuel
loads. The on-site residences would be clustered together away from the on-
site open space. The proposed project would be located directly adjacent
to nearby single-family homes, thereby clustering the proposed project near
other development. Therefore, the proposed project would not place low
density residential uses in a configuration that would exacerbate wildfire risk.
Given that the majority of the project site is not located on steep terrain, is
surrounded by urban uses on the northern, eastern, and southern sides, does
not currently experience high winds, and is separated from the undeveloped

33 California Air Resources Board (ARB). 2023.
