OUTREACH
No outreach was conducted for the workshop, since this initial item is to solicit initial City
Council input on opportunities to develop a program around production of affordable units in
Pleasanton. If the effort proceeds, formulation of the program would include an outreach effort
to stakeholders and community members with interest in this topic or a specific future project.

STRATEGIC PLAN ALIGNMENT
This effort helps to implement the ONE Pleasanton Strategic Plan strategic goal of Building a
Community Where Everyone Belongs, Strategy 6 - Implement the Housing Element and
develop a plan to end homelessness and provide opportunities for additional housing and
shelter in Pleasanton. This initiative, if pursued by City Council, would also address Strategy
10 to establish a partnership with a non-profit developer to secure a site and develop an
affordable housing project.

FISCAL IMPACT
There is no fiscal impact as an outcome of this discussion. If work proceeds, staff would
provide more detailed analysis with respect to City financial and other resources that may be
dedicated to the program. It is noted that the most likely source of City funds, if any, would be
the Lower Income Housing Fund (LIHF), the use of which is restricted to expenditure on
affordable housing-related programs and projects.

Prepared by: Submitted by: Approved by:

Steve Hernandez, Housing
Division Program Manager
Ellen Clark, Director of Community
Development

Gerry Beaudin, City
Manager

Attachments:
1.
