Page 1 of 2 Item #7 PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION AGENDA REPORT November 14, 2024 Library and Recreation TITLE: APPROVE THE PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION'S SHORT-TERM WORKPLAN PRIORITIES FOR FY 2024/25 SUMMARY The recently updated Parks and Recreation Commission duties include developing a commission workplan to be provided to the City Council for consideration during the budget process. As the next two-year budget cycle will be developed in early 2025, staff recommends that the commission approve a short-term work plan to guide its work over this current fiscal year (July 1, 2024 – June 30, 2025) RECOMMENDATION Approve the Parks and Recreation Commission's Short-term Workplan Priorities for FY 2024/25 BACKGROUND As stated in Section 2.32.020 of the Pleasanton Municipal Code: The duties of the Parks and Recreation Commission shall include the following: “Develop a commission workplan to be provided to the City Council for consideration during the budget process. The workplan should be based on the goals and strategies outlined in the ONE Pleasanton Strategic Plan as well as the role of the commission.” At the September 12, 2024 meeting, the commission discussed workplan items. DISCUSSION Based upon commission input, the following is recommended for the commission workplan through June 30, 2025. • Review and provide feedback on the playground replacement prioritization plan • Review and recommend direction for cemetery operations and fees • Review and approve fees for the Callippe Preserve Golf Course • Review and provide feedback on the nonfunctional turf reduction on city property related to AB 1572 • Evaluate the Park Ambassador Program • Review Master Plans for Staples Ranch and Bernal Community Parks.
