Page 1 of 2 <br />Item #5 <br /> <br />HUMAN SERVICES COMMISSION <br />AGENDA REPORT <br /> <br /> <br />March 5, 2025 <br />Library and Recreation <br /> <br />TITLE: SELECT PRIMARY AND ALTERNATE COMMISSION REPRESENTATIVES TO <br />ATTEND LOCAL HUMAN SERVICES-RELATED MEETINGS AND PROGRAMS <br /> <br />SUMMARY <br />The Human Services Commission annually selects commissioners to attend local human <br />services-related meetings and programs. <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Select Primary and Alternate Commission Representatives to Attend Local Human Services- <br />related Meetings and Programs <br /> <br />BACKGROUND <br />Each year, the Human Services Commission selects representatives to attend meetings with <br />local organizations focused on human services. During the Commission Reports section of <br />regular meetings, commission representatives have shared updates and information from <br />these organizations with the entire commission. At the Janurary 7, 2025 meeting, <br />commissioners voted to move this item to a future meeting agenda after meeting times and <br />days were confirmed with each nonprofit agency. <br /> <br />DISCUSSION <br />Human services-related meetings provide insight into community needs that can inform work <br />plans, needs assessment goals, and grant priorities. <br /> <br />Commissioners are asked to consider the following organizations for representation and select <br />a primary and alternate representative for each: <br />• Tri-Valley Nonprofit Alliance (TVNPA)—TVNPA programs and meetings provide <br />opportunities for nonprofit agencies to meet and collaborate on monthly topics of <br />interest in the Tri-Valley, enhancing services in the nonprofit sector. Programs are <br />generally held on the second Thursday of each month; times vary. For updated <br />information, visit the Monthly Programs webpage: Monthly Programs – Tri-Valley <br />NonProfit Alliance <br />• CityServe of the Tri-Valley – CityServe programs and meetings are a forum to share <br />current/upcoming Tri-Valley human services, discuss special events or programs, learn <br />best practices, identify service gaps, and collaborate. Collab Labs, meetings, programs <br />and special events are held throughout the year.
