My husband and I have raised our
daughter here. I am writing because I'm opposed to reducing the
library's hours from 62 to 40 because of its impact to residents of
all ages. As referenced in previous budget discussions, the library is
the most used facility in the City of Pleasanton. I cannot count the
number of hours I have spent in Pleasanton's library as my daughter
was in school both using its wonderful resources and volunteering.
In addition I spent many many hours there as well as I changed
careers and was in nursing school. I am also a member of a book
club which has been going for 16 years and we cherish the ability to
check out the books we have chosen to read and discuss. Often I
have raced to the library after our monthly meeting to check out next
month's book, getting there just before it closes! New and longtime
community members have always been attracted to the excellent
educational opportunities Pleasanton offers and the library has been
a major role in this.
I love the City of Pleasanton, and believe I can count on you to do the
right thing. This is why I urge the council to maintain the library's
hours of operation."
Thank you for for your support, as always.
Sincerely,
Renee Beckman
