When I bought my hom e, the r ealto r s told us that the r ailr oa d was winding down a nd would eventually become a “r ails to tr ails ” pr oject. Of cour s e, r a ilr o ad tr affic has only incr eas e d o ver the la s t 26 year s , and tr a in nois e occur s incr ea s ingly ar ound the clo ck. B ut it’s not jus t me and my clos e neighbor s who ar e im pacted by tr ain and hor n nois e. This is s ue ha s been r ais e d in the pas t (2007, 2017), but ther e’s incr eas ing s uppo r t fo r a Q uite Z one, and ther e now a ppear s to be much lowe r cos t options for incr ea s ing s a fety, co mplying with r egulatio ns and elim inating the need fo r blar ing tr ain ho r ns .
