I am particularly saddened over the impact that these
cuts will have on the library, its staff, and its patrons.
I grew up in Pleasanton, attended all Pleasanton schools, taught at
Pleasanton schools, and raised my children in Pleasanton. Three of
my immediate family members (including myself) have worked full
time or part time for the City of Pleasanton. V1Ln love Pleasanton,
even though many of our retired friends have left for what they
perceive as greener pastures.
Many people use the Pleasanton library for far more than just
checking out books. The library provides a community center which
in turn becomes a center of our community. Although Pleasanton is
seen as an affluent suburb, just one day in the library will open your
eyes to how many of our neighbors desperately need access to the
many resources our library and staff provide. The library is the
foundation for the future success of our city and its citizens.
I beg you to reconsider where to cut funding. The library should not
bear the brunt of poor planning.
Respectfully Yours,
Sara V\blsh
