PART 1 <br />Urban Forest Master Plan <br />This part of the document is written <br />for the public and summarizes <br />the history and current state of <br />Pleasanton's urban forest, identifies <br />key findings, and provides a strategic <br />action and implementation plan <br />to help the City achieve its future <br />vision for the urban forest. <br />SECTIONS <br />11 Introduction: provides an <br />overview of what an Urban Forest <br />Master Plan (UFMP) is and why the <br />City of Pleasanton needs such a <br />plan. It also covers the benefits of <br />trees, the key findings of the plan, <br />and a summary of the canopy cover <br />and tree inventory analyses. <br />2 1 Context: covers the history of <br />trees and tree -related ordinances in <br />Pleasanton, the UFMP development <br />process, and a summary of <br />community engagement activities. <br />3 1 The Plan: contains the overall <br />strategy for the City in achieving <br />its urban forest goals including <br />the vision, guiding principles, and <br />specific actions that will serve <br />as a road map for Pleasanton. <br />4 1 Implementation: provides <br />a prioritized list of actions for <br />improving the urban forest along with <br />the relative cost, responsible party, <br />and method of measurement for <br />tracking the success of each action. <br />5 1 Monitoring: includes a <br />summary of the self-assessment <br />monitoring tool by Vibrant Cities <br />Labs that shows the current status <br />(prior to the UFMP) of Pleasanton <br />on a number of key urban forest <br />sustainability indicators. This tool <br />will also allow the City to track <br />future improvements to these urban <br />forest sustainability indicators. <br />6 1 References: Provides a list <br />of scholarly sources and research <br />articles referenced in this plan. <br />DOCUMENT ORGANIZATION U <br />PART 2 <br />Technical Assessment <br />This part of the document is <br />tailored for City Staff and provides <br />a deeper dive into the analyses <br />of the City's urban forest canopy <br />cover, tree inventory, staff and <br />budgeting, community engagement, <br />and how this plan relates to other <br />City planning documents. <br />PART 3 <br />Appendices <br />This section of the document <br />contains additional information <br />and resources referenced in Parts <br />1 and 2 including a section on <br />wildfire planning (Appendix A), a <br />frequently asked questions sheet with <br />relevant City contacts for residents <br />(Appendix B), a recommended <br />tree species list (Appendix <br />C), and a series of illustrated <br />arboriculture best management <br />practice standards (Appendix J). <br />CITY OF PLEASANTON URBAN FOREST MASTER PLAN I XII <br />
