This new amount is reflected in the PDA’s
2026 budget, as is the already-budgeted $80,000 City contribution. The Supplemental
Information, provided with the annual report and budget, provides detailed descriptions of how
the additional assessment revenue will be programmed into the PDA’s activities. As
described, the priorities will be to expand business support, add new events and community
programs, enhance downtown with beautification and placemaking programs, implement
technology to improve the visitor experience, and lastly, work through partnerships toward
building an economically strong downtown with enhanced tourism, business recruitment and
retention initiatives.

For the past several months, the PDA has made significant efforts in engaging with
businesses and communicating the benefits of being part of the District. The Advisory Board
and PDA staff feel that they have adequate support from businesses to recommend the BID
restructuring based on existing and added benefits outlined in the annual report and
supplemental information.

PDA 2026 Activities and Goals
The annual report further highlights the PDA’s commitment to prioritizing the common goals
and interests of downtown businesses and strengthening connections with PDA members to
communicate membership benefits. This includes re-engaging with new and current property
owners, and marketing and communication efforts focused on promoting the downtown
businesses, upcoming events, and issues facing the downtown.

The PDA’s robust social media efforts are meeting the organization's goals to increase
awareness of downtown businesses, events, and vitality with a significant following on their
social media channels.

The PDA worked closely with City staff on the closure of Main Street for Weekends on Main
featuring popular events such as Porsches on Main and Pleasanton Palooza, and other
events including Totally Mimosa, Forkful, Small Business Saturday, wine strolls, and holiday
events to activate the downtown. The PDA was successful in launching the summer Concerts
in the Park series which coincided with the opening of the new bandstand at Lions Wayside
Park. The PDA is also a partner with the City in promoting Gift Pleasanton, the City’s e-gift
card program, as downtown’s premier gift card to keep spending in Pleasanton.

Key priorities for the PDA include supporting downtown businesses through communication
and marketing, focused re-engagement with downtown stakeholders, creating a positive
downtown experience for all ages in the community, long-term organizational stability, and
working closely with the City on a shared vision for downtown economic vitality and growth.

2026 Budget
The PDA budget includes events planned during the year, which are projected to generate
approximately 37 percent of the total 2026 revenue for the PDA, down from 62 percent last
year. In prior years, the PDA was heavily dependent on event revenue, which became a
detriment to the organization during the pandemic when events could not be held. The PDA’s
strategic plan provides more diversified revenue streams which will keep the PDA fiscally
solvent in the future.
