Arborist Report. 4400 Black Ave. Pleasanton. Page 4
The True Life Companies May 2023

HortScience | Bartlett Consulting, Divisions of The F. A. Bartlett Tree Expert Company

Three (3) off-site valley oaks were
in good condition. Age and size
ranged from young to mature and
from 7 to 28 inches. Oak #54 was
especially striking with a wide-
spreading crown (Photo 4).

Coast redwoods #30 and 31 were
located off-site. Their crowns
extended approximately 12 feet into
the project area. The redwoods
had good upright form and
structure. Tree #30 was in good
condition with a healthy crown and
tree #31 was in fair condition with a
sparse crown. Trees were semi-
mature to mature in development with an average trunk diameter of 20 inches.

London planes #59 and 60 were street trees located adjacent to Black Ave. They were growing
in 5-foot tree wells and were under utility lines. The planes were in fair condition and had been
topped for utility clearance. They were semi-mature in development with a trunk diameter of 16
inches.

Two southern magnolias were growing in turf near the building entrance. Tree #14 was in fair
condition with girdling surface roots and a healthy crown. Tree #27 was in poor condition with
large surface roots and moderate twig and branch dieback. The magnolias were semi-mature in
development with an average trunk diameter of 16 inches.

The remaining species were represented by one tree:

• Evergreen ash #28 was semi-mature in development. Its codominant stems measured
10 and 9 inches in diameter. The ash was in fair condition with a healthy crown.

• Hackberry #57 was located off-site. The tree was in fair condition and had vigorous bud
growth. This multi-stemmed tree was semi-mature with an average trunk diameter of 8
inches.

• Sawleaf zelkova #12 was mature in development with a trunk diameter of 19 inches. The
zelkova was located in a planting space that measured 6 feet by 10 feet. Its large
surface roots were displacing the surrounding hardscape. The tree was in fair condition
with moderate twig and branch dieback.

Photo 4. Off-site valley oak #54
was in good condition and had a
wide spreading crown.
