Our Purpose Is Clear: 2021 Annual Report. <br /> <br />Local Air Quality and Monitoring Data <br />The BAAQMD operates a regional air quality monitoring network that regularly measures the <br />concentrations of the five major criteria air pollutants.11 Air monitoring data is available in Appendix <br />B. The local air quality can be evaluated by reviewing relevant air pollution concentrations near the <br />proposed project area. The nearest ozone monitoring stations to the proposed project site is at the <br />Livermore Monitoring Station located at 793 Rincon Avenue, Livermore, California. <br />Toxic Air Contaminants: Sources and Health Effects <br />TACs are air pollutants identified by the California Air Resources Board (ARB) and the BAAQMD as <br />having the potential to cause serious health effects, including cancer and other severe illnesses. The <br />BAAQMD monitors and regulates TACs to protect public health in the Bay Area, where diesel <br />particulate matter (DPM) is a significant concern.12,13 DPM, which constitutes about 85 percent of <br />the cancer risk from TACs in the region, is primarily emitted from on-road diesel trucks, off-road <br />internal combustion engines, and diesel construction equipment.
