City of Pleasanton—Hidden Canyon Residences and Preserve
Draft EIR Biological Resources

FirstCarbon Solutions 3.3-49
https://adecinnovations.sharepoint.com/sites/PublicationsSite/Shared Documents/Publications/Client (PN-JN)/2148/21480016/EIR/3 - Draft EIR/21480016 Sec03-03 Bio Resources.docx
Nesting birds, including groups of species that are protected under federal and State law and are
considered sensitive and protected under certain conditions (e.g., when nesting, breeding), are
known to use the sites within the geographic context of the City of Pleasanton for nesting. Removal
of mature trees that are critical for species reliant on mature trees may contribute to significant
cumulative impacts on loss of suitable nesting habitat if similar trees nearby are also removed and
not replaced in kind.
Potential project-related impacts on wildlife movement corridors are analyzed and discussed under
Impact BIO-4 and are considered less than significant due to the 104.6 acres of preserved on-site
land that mitigate for the impact of 23.89 acres of grassland habitat impacted by the proposed
project. Therefore, the implementation of the proposed project would not cause or contribute to
any significant cumulative impacts in this regard.
Habitat and Natural Community Conservation Plan Consistency
The geographic study area consists of a 1-mile radius around the project site. The 11300 Dublin
Canyon Road Project is within this geographic context and will be considered in the cumulative
discussion. The project site and potential cumulative project areas within the geographic context of
the project site vicinity are not located within an HCP or NCCP. As such, there will be a less than
significant cumulative impact to biological resources related to the cumulative project list and the
proposed project’s contribution to the less than significant cumulative impact would not be
cumulatively considerable.
Level of Cumulative Significance Before Mitigation
Potentially significant impact.
Mitigation Measures
MM BIO-1a through MM BIO-5
Level of Cumulative Significance After Mitigation
Less than significant impact.
