ALAMEDA COUNTY | Community Development Agency | PLANNING DEPARTMENT Grant Funding Application | ALTAMONT 4
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Describe how the project meets the ALOSC funding criteria.
1.Significant Native Biodiversity Value
The study will identify native biodiversity value through field visits, aerial photography, and historical records. This area has
been identified as a hotspot for species requiring compensatory mitigation and is listed as essential to the biodiversity of the
Conservation Lands Network. The area has several large identified vernal pools and wetlands that support local native
species. The study will be able to identify all relevant native biodiversity to be prioritized for preservation.
2.Significant Visual and/or Non-motorized Recreational Value
Trails have been planned or envisioned in the East of Greenville area in several visioning and planning documents for
Alameda County, EBRPD, LARPD, and the City of Livermore. This includes routes along the South Bay Aqueduct and
through the East of Greenville area to service the Murray Township. The study will provide recommendations for the most
important corridors to have for recreational access.
3.Strategic Value in Land Protection
The Tri-Valley Conservancy within its capacity, is partnering with local stakeholders to conduct a conservation values study
of the East of Greenville to determine the ecological, agricultural and recreational resources that may need to be mitigated
or preserved with the development of this area. TVC has previously conducted a Natural Resources Conservation Study in
North Livermore in 2009 which analyzed the conservation values of the region, as well as methods of conservation. This
document has been instrumental in prioritizing the resources and values in North Livermore that are the highest priority for
conservation. We are looking to provide a similar resource with this study.
4.Additional Funding Sources
Tri-Valley Conservancy is engaging in a collaborative stakeholder effort and is sourcing funding from parties involved.
5.Willing Sellers
TVC is interfacing with landowners and stakeholders throughout this process to ensure their continued engagement and
involvement in the study process.
Describe how the property will be operated and maintained (e.g., if donated to the East Bay Regional Park District, an agreement
showing that EBRPD is willing to accept and maintain the property; if a conservation easement is proposed, indicate what the
easement holder’s monitoring plan is for the property.)
Properties will continue to be operated and maintained by their landowners throughout this process.
EXHIBIT A
