Operations and Maintenance and Utilities and Environmental Services Divisions, and the
Pleasanton Police Department’s training and storage functions (OSC-PD). The campus is
served by a zoned fire alarm system with a non-functioning control panel. Although the
buildings are fully sprinklered, this system does not monitor all of the exterior fire risers.

The scope of work at this location includes:
• Relocating the fire alarm control panel (FACP)
• Upgrading to an addressable fire alarm system with remote monitoring
• Adding a one-way voice communication system throughout offices, shops, and exterior
areas to enhance emergency response

Two additional OSC buildings, the LPFD Training Center and a one-story classroom
(approximately 2,500 square feet, built in 1988), are not sprinklered and are connected to a
separate unmonitored fire alarm system that also controls the training tower used for live-burn
activities. The scope includes a new addressable system and FACP with remote monitoring,
separated from the training tower system, which will remain in place.

Materials staging, waste bins, and contractor parking will be inside the OSC gates near Busch
Road, away from neighboring properties. Exterior work will follow city ordinance hours. Limited
disruption is expected to staff, with no impact on community services. The training tower,
miscellaneous site structures, emergency generator, and fuel tanks are not part of this project.

City Library - 400 Old Bernal Avenue
The Library, constructed in 1988 and remodeled in 2019, is the City’s largest building at
approximately 30,200 square feet. It is sprinklered and currently served by an outdated, zoned
fire alarm system with remote monitoring.

The scope of work at this location includes:
• Relocating the FACP and upgrading to an addressable system
• Adding devices to meet current code
• Replacing the underground backflow assembly with a new above-grade assembly

Interior work will occur outside public hours, and the Library will remain open during regular
hours. Impacts on staff will be minimal. Exterior work will follow city ordinance hours. Staging
will be secured within contractor-provided fencing, and a fire watch will be required when
systems are offline. The adjacent library storage building is not included in this scope.

Pleasanton Police Station - 4833 Bernal Avenue
The Police Station building, constructed in 1983 with additions in 1997, is approximately
20,300 square feet. It includes an elevator, fire sprinklers, and an original fire alarm system
monitored by Police Dispatch.

The scope of work at this location includes:
• Upgrading to an addressable fire alarm system
Page 34 of 200
