Dublin/Pleasanton BART Existing Conditions – Access and Circulation
June 6, 2025

Bus and Shuttle
Table 5 summarizes the bus routes serving the station. Twenty bus lines, operated by six bus
operators, currently serve the station. The Livermore Amador Valley Transit Authority - LAVTA
(whose bus service is called Wheels) operates 12 routes, more than other operators, followed by
County Connection, which operates four routes at the station. Other operators include commuter
or “early bird” routes that serve San Joaquin and Stanislaus Counties, primarily in the early
morning or late afternoon or evening hours. Of the 20 bus routes that serve the station, 18 stop
on the Dublin side of the station and only two stop on the Pleasanton side.
As shown on Figure 1, bus stops are located in three primary areas around the station. The main
bus boarding area is on the Dublin side, where 12 bus bays are located just north of the station
entrance along the transit-only access road. These bays serve most of the County Connection and
Wheels bus routes and provide amenities, including shelters, benches, trash receptacles, and
route information displays. Two additional curbside bus stops are located on Iron Horse Parkway,
also on the Dublin side and northeast of the station, which primarily serve commuter bus routes
and provide similar amenities. As shown on Figure 7, four additional bus bays are located along
the transit-only road on the Pleasanton side of the station. These stops provide the same
amenities as the stops on the Dublin side of the station. Two bus routes currently use these stops,
Wheels Route 54 and County Connection Route 636. Wheels Route 54 connects to the Altamont
Corridor Express (ACE) Pleasanton station, which is located near Downtown Pleasanton. The ACE
is a commuter rail service which only operates in single directions during the peak hours. As
shown in Table 6, the two bus routes stopping on the Pleasanton side of the station had an
average of about 12 riders combined on a typical weekday. Six of the bus lines that have stops on
the Dublin side of the station use the transit -only roadway to cross under the freeway and exit
the station on the Pleasanton side.
About 30 total buses serve the station during each of the morning and evening peak hours.
Based on our observations, some buses stop at the Dublin/Pleasanton BART Station entrance for
passengers to alight, before travelling to their designated stops at the bus bays to board
passengers. According to BART staff, private shuttles also use the transit-only lanes to drop-off
passengers closer to the station entrance. Paratransit services also have a stop in the northbound
direction of the transit-only roadway, opposite the station entrance. We did not observe any
paratransit services or private shuttles during our site visit.
DRA
F
T
