From:
To:Natalie Amos
Cc:
Subject:P26-0136 : 2986 Liberty Drive : Addendum to the earlier formal complaint I submitted on March 11th
Date:Monday, May 11, 2026 11:46:57 AM
Hi Natalie,
Since my formal complaint dated March 11, 2026, further incidents have occurred that
underscore the unreasonable nature of the opposition. I am adding the following for the
understanding of the appeal hearing committee.
Documentation of Xenophobic Rhetoric and Personal Bias: During a subsequent HOA
meeting attended by several community members, the appellant demonstrated a clear lack of
civil conduct. While the discussion touched upon the architectural necessity of the extension
to provide accessible accommodations for my elderly mother, the appellant responded with a
targeted, xenophobic remark: “He might want to bring all of India here.”
Despite being asked by a witness to refrain from such comments, the appellant repeated the
statement aggressively. For the record, my mother has no intention of immigrating; she is an
international visitor who travels for a few months each year solely to spend time with her only
child and her grandchildren. This behavior, witnessed by multiple attendees, strongly indicates
that the opposition is fueled by personal animus and xenophobic tropes rather than legitimate
planning concerns. It appears to weaponize a standard family visit to incite fear, when all we
said was a part of the intention for this extension was to provide a safe, accessible space for a
visiting parent.
Formal Plea for Equitable Adjudication: In closing, I respectfully urge the Appeal
Committee to decouple this application from the manufactured noise of a coordinated
opposition and return the focus to the Pleasanton City Code and objective architectural facts.
I see that the opposition has moved away from legitimate planning merits in favor of
harassment and misinformation. The appellant’s behavior—beginning the very day the City
notice arrived with an illegal entry into my home to shout at my family in front of my minor
children and elderly mother, and slamming our front door shut aggressively, and then by
stooping to spread xenophobic tropes in a public HOA meeting in an attempt to recruit support,
the appellant has compromised the integrity of this process, replacing objective discourse with
a campaign of personal animosity. When a public process is influenced by such factors, I hope
the City will act as a neutral arbiter and protect the integrity of the process.
I humbly request the City to remain steadfast in its commitment to fairness and to uphold the
fundamental rights of the property owner. I trust the City will fulfill its duty to provide a fair
hearing, free from the influence of discriminatory motives, and will adjudicate this project
solely on its architectural and legal merits.
Sincerely,
Shrihari Achayath
2986 Liberty Drive.
--
-Thanks & Regards,
