An additional
$25,000 is proposed for potential future theft-related repairs, for an amendment of an
additional $50,000 for FY 2024/25. Funding for this item is available in the Traffic Operating
Budget (00140201).
Streetlight Pole Replacements – R&R-519 ($150,000)
In 2024, additional LED streetlight replacements were identified as necessary. Staff
recommends increasing the contract capacity by $150,000 to support the Repair and
Replacement-519 program in FY 2024/25. This program funds the replacement of deteriorated
streetlight poles to prevent failures, ensure service reliability, and maintain the structural
integrity and safety of the City’s streetlight infrastructure. Funding for this initiative is available
in the Internal Service Fund – Streetlight Replacement (51940135).
Hacienda Streetlight Replacements ($100,000)
The City has an existing agreement with Hacienda, previously approved by the City Council,
allowing the procurement of materials through the City's contract, with full reimbursement by
Hacienda. As part of its upcoming streetlight replacement project in FY 2025/26, Hacienda
Business Park Association Special Maintenance District (12840103), with full reimbursement
from Hacienda estimated at $100,000. Hacienda staff has been involved with, and is
supportive of, this proposed amendment.

This additional funding addresses several important factors, including: ensuring the City’s
lighting infrastructure remains secure, functional, and well-maintained while leveraging
available funding sources efficiently; enhancing the City's ability to address unforeseen
conditions; supporting the additional request from Hacienda, ensuring continued compliance
with federal and state regulations; and maintaining operational efficiency, while proactively
address aging infrastructure, enhancing public safety, and aligning with sustainability goals.

EQUITY AND SUSTAINABILITY
The replacement of fluorescent light fixtures with LED lighting supports the City's Climate
Action Plan (CAP 2.0) goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions through the “Materials &
Consumption Strategy MC-2: Enhance sustainable production and reduce consumption.”
Eliminating fluorescent bulbs also removes mercury vapor hazards, reducing environmental
and public health risks.

OUTREACH
No community outreach was conducted, as this item is a routine matter of City business. City
and Hacienda staff communicated on the additional contract capacity to support the Hacienda
streetlights replacement.

STRATEGIC PLAN ALIGNMENT
Approval of this action advances the ONE Pleasanton strategic plan goal of Investing in Our
Environment: Strategy 7—Continue to invest in parks, bicycle, and pedestrian infrastructure,
and public art to improve traffic safety, promote climate resilience, and increase equitable
access to cultural and recreational opportunities.

Docusign Envelope ID: 27E41F4E-A3A2-8308-8032-81F3C31633E2
