5
Optional Further Revision: As an option, the City Council could consider directing the applicant
to make further revisions to the canopy signage design, since the amount and use of branded
color elements was raised as a concern by some City Council members, although there was not
clear direction or consensus on this point.
If a majority of City Council supported a further revision, staff would recommend adding a new
Condition of Approval #6, to the Resolution, with following conditions renumbered accordingly,
as follows:
6. CANOPY SIGNAGE: The applicant shall revise the project plans for the gas station
canopy, so as to eliminate the majority of the branded color panel elements of the design and
limit branding to use of the Gulf “disc” logo or Word Mark, the latter which may be on a branded
color background, on up to three sides of the canopy. Such elements, inclusive of any colored
background, shall occupy no more than 25 percent of the area of each respective face of the
canopy, and the remainder of the canopy fascia to be a neutral color such as white, grey, or tan.
This condition would accommodate key elements of the existing proposed design, reflecting the
approximate dimensions proposed, while eliminating “excess” or additional branded color
elements. The applicant has noted that revising the canopy signage would require refabrication
of the entire sign, at considerable cost, and therefore continues to request that changes be
limited to modification of the monument sign only.
Attachments –
1.Draft Resolution upholding the Zoning Administrator’s approval of Case No. P24-
0731, subject to the Conditions of Approval
2.
