The LPFD Board of Directors subsequently voted to recommend that LPFD secure
replacement coverage by joining Bay Cities Joint Powers Insurance Authority (BCJPIA). On April 21, 2025, staff presented those options to the Board of Directors and the
Board voted to recommend that LPFD secure replacement coverage by joining Bay Cities Joint
Powers Insurance Authority (BCJPIA). Staff are now requesting that the City Councils for
Pleasanton and Livermore approve the Board’s recommendation.

BOARD ACTION
On April 21, 2025, the LPFD Board of Directors met and voted to recommend the action
requested in this staff report.

DISCUSSION
Once authorization has been provided by both Councils, staff will complete the application
process to secure coverage effective July 1, 2025.

EQUITY AND SUSTAINABILITY
Providing for the sustainable operation of the LPFD ensures the consistent provision of fire and
Page 62 of 249
