If it is determined a background investigation is <br />warranted, DEX Background Investigations (DEXBGI) will complete the background <br />investigation. <br />The cost for this service is a flat fee of $2,200.00 for Peace Officer, Public Safety <br />Dispatcher, and/or professional staff. <br />a. File Assignment/Applicant Assessment: Upon assignment of the background <br />investigation, DEXBGI will contact the applicant. DEXBGI will discuss expectations <br />during the investigation, assess the required documents for the investigation, and <br />make arrangements for an interview. Any potentially derogatory/disqualifying <br />information disclosed in the applicant’s documents will be reported to the Pleasanton <br />Police Department. If the department determines the applicant is disqualified/not <br />selected or the applicant withdraws before the interview, a $300 fee will apply. <br />b. Preliminary Investigation: After interviewing the applicant, DEXBGI will provide a <br />summary of disclosures, admissions, and other relevant information pertaining to the <br />background investigation. Many departments use this opportunity to re-evaluate the <br />applicant and decide to move forward with the applicant or disqualify/not select the <br />applicant. If the applicant is disqualified or not selected to move forward, the minimum <br />fee will be $1,000. If the investigation is authorized to continue, the flat fee will apply. <br />c. DEXBGI will charge the current IRS Standard Mileage Rate per mile for routine travel <br />during investigations. The travel included is for neighborhood checks, contact of <br />employers, file reviews, etc. Reimbursement will be sought at the conclusion of the <br />investigation.
