2026 PLEASANTON BICYCLE AND PEDESTRIAN MASTER PLAN | 105
IMPLEMENTATION
Monitoring and Plan Updates
Regular monitoring will help the City track progress toward the Plan’s goals, evaluate
implementation, and identify changing needs and opportunities. Monitoring should focus
on both infrastructure implementation and support programs and should use information
that can reasonably be collected through existing City practices and available data
sources.
Potential measures include:
• Number and type of bicycle and pedestrian projects
completed or advanced toward implementation.
• Miles of new or upgraded bicycle facilities.
• Number of pedestrian crossing, sidewalk, accessibility,
and other pedestrian improvements completed.
• Progress in implementing Priority Corridors and other
corridor improvements.
• Number and type of support programs implemented or
expanded.
• Bicycle and pedestrian collision trends, including severe
and fatal collisions.
• Changes in bicycle and pedestrian activity where reliable
count data are available.
• Community participation and feedback related to walking
and bicycling programs and projects.
• Grant applications submitted and funding awarded for
bicycle and pedestrian improvements.
The City should periodically review implementation progress and update project and program priorities as condi-
tions change. Factors that may warrant adjustments include new development, changes in safety conditions,
completed projects, new funding opportunities, changes in community priorities, and changes in City or regional
transportation policies. Monitoring results can also inform future updates to the Bicycle and Pedestrian Master
Plan and help identify opportunities to refine the City’s approach to implementation.
