The program opportunities are intended to provide the City with a menu of potential strategies rather than
a requirement to implement every program. The City can advance individual programs over time based on community priorities, available
resources, partnerships, and funding opportunities.
Because active transportation touches many aspects of municipal service, successful implementation will require coordination across
multiple City departments and with external partners. Different departments may lead individual programs based on their core responsibil -
ities. For example, the Community Development Department may lead transportation, planning, and economic initiatives; the Public Works
Department may oversee capital improvements and maintenance activities; and the Police Department may lead safety and enforcement
programs. School districts, regional agencies, community organizations, local businesses, and other City departments may serve as sup-
porting partners where appropriate.
Chapter 6 identifies potential lead departments and supporting partners, implementation priorities, and anticipated resource needs for the
program opportunities identified in this chapter. This information is intended to help the City evaluate implementation opportunities and
advance programs that align with community priorities, available resources, and future funding opportunities.
