The TVAHC was created in 1992 by the Tri-Valley Council, which also initiated the Tri-Valley
Transportation Council (1991) and the Tri-Valley Planning Committee (1994). The initial focus of TVAHC
was to explore creation of state legislation to allow sharing of credit for jointly developed affordable
housing units. Legislative efforts were generally unsuccessful. However, the jurisdictions recognized
other reasons to continue to work together.
The TVAHC has continued to meet bi-monthly to discuss affordable housing issues, share information,
and promote housing affordability in the Tri-Valley area. Membership consists of one elected official and
one staff member from each of the seven participating jurisdictions (Danville, San Ramon, Dublin,
Pleasanton, Livermore, and the counties of Alameda and Contra Costa). The TVAHC meets the last
Friday of alternating months (next meeting June 27 in Pleasanton).
