Original Message .....
From: Terri Walsh [mailto:MandTWalsh@comcast,net]
Sent: Sunday, April 17, 2005 1:37 PM
To: Mary Lu Campbell
Subject: The NEED for Lighted Tennis Courts on Bernal property

I have to agree with an article I read in the Tri-Valley Herald. It was an older gentlemen expressing the
need for more public tennis courts in our
town. He compared the sport of tennis to the sports of soccer and Lacross as being a sport that we can
play well into our older years, where the latter would be unlikely. I have 4 children who play soccer,
softball, little league and somehow there NEVER seems to be a problem finding places to practice and
to play their games. My children love competing in these sports, I do doubt they'll continue to play
them in their later years. I am 40 years old and I took up the sport of tennis 3 years ago. I can see me
playing for many more years, this is a sport that I enjoy and can play singles, doubles... I play quite a few
retired folks and they are still challenging all of us. It's a lifetime sport, I only wish I'd started earlier. The
tennis programs in schools seem to be getting bigger and stronger meaning we'll have a need for more
courts to support them as well. The open public courts in the area fill up and are getting alot harder to
pop in and find them available. Especially lighted courts, I believe we have only the option of the city
tennis park. Please take some consideration to the Tennis Players of Pleasanton.
Thank you,

Terri Walsh
MandTWalsh@comcast.net

4/18/2005
