Due to reductions in Federal
rental assistance programs, there have been no recent opportunities to support new applications
for Section 8 assistance and similar federal rent subsidy programs. The City will continue to
monitor the funding situation and will provide assistance and support to the Alameda County
Housing Authority and other agencies as necessary.

8-~ ig ,u. r',
Program 21 : Des hate .... Cominue Program. The Zoning Ordinance
currently provides several opportunities for locating such facilities in various zoning districts on
a conditional basis, including the Central Commercial, Service Commercial, and the Agricultural
districts. The City has not yet designated specific sites for the location of emergency shelters
and transitional-housing facilities since the current level of need in the area has been more
efficiently addressed through other means (e.g., the City assisted the City of Livermore to
acquire and rehabilitate a transitional-housing facility which serves residents from throughout
the Tri-Valley). The City will investigate designating specific sites as future needs dictate.

29
