Appendix F
Transportation Analysis

8. Existing Transit System

The Livermore-Amador Valley Transit Authority (LAVTA) provides fixed-route (WHEELS),
demand-responsive (DART), paratransit (Dial-a-Ride). and school (School Trippers) bus
service throughout the cities of Pleasanton, Dublin, and Livermore, including transit service
to the Dublin-Pleasanton Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) station. Three fixed-route bus
services serve the northern portion of the project site: Routes 7 (Hacienda, downtown
Pleasanton, Case Avenue), 8 (Vintage Hills, downtown Pleasanton, Valley, BART), and the
54 shuttle (ACE Pleasanton, BART). Three school-bus routes, also operated by LAVTA, serve
the northern portion of the project site: Routes 601 (Ruby Hill, Sunol & Mission), 602 (Sunol
& Mission, Foothill Boulevard), and 606 (First and Vineyard, Case and Bernal).

Routes 7 and 8 are roughly complementary routes, in which route 7 is northbound and route
8 is southbound. They provide weekday, fixed-route service from 7:00 AM to 9:00 AM and
from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM in sixty-minute intervals. From 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM, they convert
to demand-responsive (DART) service. No service is provided on the weekends. Route 54
operates weekday, fixed-route service northbound from 5:30 AM to 8:00 AM at 75-minute
intervals, and southbound from 3:30 PM to 5:30 PM in sixty-minute intervals. No service is
offered on the weekends. Routes 601, 602, and 606 operate school days only, one bus in the
morning and one bus in the afternoon, scheduled to coincide with school schedules.
Paratransit service for seniors and adults with disabilities is offered through LAVTA and the
City of Pleasanton. LAVTA provides weekday peak-hour and Sunday daytime paratransit
service (Dial-a-Ride). The City of Pleasanton offers weekday service from 8:00 AM to 5:00
PM and Saturday service from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

9. Existing Pedestrian and Bicycle Facilities

Pedestrian and bicycle roadway facilities in the project site area are generally discontinuous
and in need of upgrading. Bike lanes begin and end abruptly, sometimes mid-block.
Sidewalks and pathways are lacking along key arterials or are only located on one side of the
roadway. Pedestrian access to and across the Arroyo de la Laguna bridge on Bernal Avenue
is a particular problem. Table F5 details the locations of pedestrian and bicycle facilities.

Table FS
Pedestrian and Bicycle Roadway Facilities

Roadwa
Interstate
680
Bernal
Avenue

Se ment
Bernal Avenue to Sunol
Boulevard
Pleasanton Avenue to
Valley Avenue

Pedestrian
No facilities, pedestrians
rohibited
North side 1 - No facilities,
pedestrians prohibited
South side - Mixed-use trail
paralleltoroadway
.
