Methodology

The City of Pleasanton has developed a comprehensive traffic forecasting model
(TRANS CAD) including a post-processing procedure which utilizes the traffic operations
software (Synchro) to evaluate peak hour intersection levels of service. The City's model
was used for this study.

Model Assumptions

The model includes all of the existing development within the City and the region. In
addition to the existing land development, the City has included the additional approved
developments that have not yet been built or occupied.

This analysis required the use to two transportation planning and operational tools. The
City's TRANSCAD travel demand model forecasts roadway and intersection turning
movement volumes. The two graphics below depict the increase in volume in the AM
and I'M peak periods created by the proposed development. A total of 23 AM trips and
24 PM trips were generated and distributed using the TRANSCAD travcl demand model.
