Tree might
be removed.
92 Ca. sycamore 66 Yes Moderate Design lot 8 so no impacts or
use within fall zone due to
structural defects. Tree might
be removed.
93 Valley oak 49 Yes Poor Design road so it is not within
fall zone due to structural
defects. Likely removal.

Equity Enterprises has proposed dedicating a large portion of the site to the City of
Pleasanton as a public park. Where natural woodlands are to be retained in non-use areas
minimal tree management would be required. Declining trees, dead branches and cavities
provide habitat for many birds, animals and insects. However, where people will be using the
area within the fall zone of structurally unsound trees, action should be taken to minimize the
risk of tree failure. Management actions in public use areas could include pruning to clean
crowns of dead branches and reduce weight on structurally weak branches, or, where
hazards cannot be abated with pruning, removal of trees with poor structure. Where retention
of structurally unsound trees is preferred because of their environmental and ecological
benefits, fencing to prohibit people under the trees could be an alternative to tree removal. In
addition. trees in public use areas should be inspected annually to assess structural condition.
